Every May 31, the women and men of Castilla-La Mancha celebrate our Day of the Region. A date to reclaim what we are, to honor our past, value our present and project a future of shared progress. As a government delegate in our region, I would like to join in this celebration by conveying a message of commitment, trust and pride for our land.
Because at a time when challenges require more than ever unity, cooperation and a sense of community, Castile-La Mancha Day is also a reminder of the commitment of the Government of Spain to our land. A commitment that translates into investments, rights and policies that improve people’s lives.
A government that has not stopped fulfilling its commitments to citizenship, improving people’s lives, expanding the range of social and labor rights; and that, at the same time, has had to face challenges of the first magnitude with the DANA of October and the blackout of April 28 as closer episodes.
In all of them, the common denominator has been the coordination between administrations and the rapid and effective response of the Government of Spain to attend to the emergency and activate the recovery; but mainly the manic behavior of the citizens has been demonstrated.
We saw it recently during the blackout, a day in which citizens and all those who worked to help solve all the problems that had to be faced gave an example to everyone of how to face an unexpected crisis that altered the life of an entire country.
In Castilla-La Mancha we also had to face the DANA of last October, which left 7 people dead in our region, whose memory will always remain in our memory.
The Government of Spain was from the first moment in the care of the affected people and municipalities and continues to be in the recovery of the devastated areas. In this regard, the Government has allocated more than 25 million euros in aid for the reconstruction of Mira and more than 27 million euros to Letur.
Also the result of an emergency is the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan that the Government of Spain launched to face the effects of COVID-19 and that has allowed Castilla-La Mancha to grow, modernize and increase its development capacities.
Specifically, the Recovery Plan has involved a total investment of 2,386 million euros for Castilla-La Mancha distributed in 1,000 million euros from calls and tenders of the General Administration of the State and 1,386 million euros allocated to the Autonomous Community in sectoral conferences, with more than 57,000 beneficiaries.
Thus, in seven years of the government of Pedro Sánchez, Castilla-La Mancha has received 41% more resources than in the seven years of Mariano Rajoy, in particular, it is almost 12,500 million more.
Castilla-La Mancha thus has more resources than ever in its history and this effort and this management of the Government of Spain contribute to improving the lives of workers and increase the opportunities for growth of our companies, SMEs and self-employed.
Socio-economic data confirm that the path begun 7 years ago has continuity and, despite the difficulties, the measures adopted by the Government are reaching the real economy and are generating more employment, more welfare and a fairer distribution of wealth.
Indefinite contracts have increased by 269% compared to 2019, more than 99,000 workers benefit from the Minimum Wage, pensioners from Castilla-La Mancha receive an average of 414 euros more than in 2018 and we have 100,000 more members of Social Security than in 2018.
These figures confirm the great moment of this shared project that is Castilla-La Mancha, fruit of the efforts of its people. A land rich in solidarity and that advances without complexes towards a more prosperous future for all.
Happy Day of Castile-La Mancha!
