Toledo.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, today presided over the inauguration of the new provincial commissioner of the National Police in Toledo, Manuel Domínguez Corcobid, whom he welcomed, "to you and your family to this city that is and will continue to be your home. For me it is an honor to accompany you in an act that marks the beginning of a new stage for the National Police in this province and that reinforces our shared commitment to security, justice and coexistence in Toledo.”
Increased staffing in Toledo and CLM
The delegate of the Government recalled that these “201 years of history, the National Police not only ensures our security, but is an essential pillar of our Rule of Law, guarantor of democracy and always wanting to make Spain a better country. And a better country is a freer and safer country; and today we can say that Spain is one of the safest countries in the world, just as Castilla-La Mancha is a safe region thanks to the work of the National Police and the State Security Forces as a whole.”
Milagros Tolón has also announced data on the staffing of the National Police in both Castilla-La Mancha and Toledo. “As of March 10, the General Directorate of the Police has convened 14 new sub-inspector positions for Castilla-La Mancha, in addition to 11 officers and 87 agents. Of these, the Toledo Police Station has 5 noncommissioned officers, 3 officers and 25 new officers.”
Always next to the citizenship
The government delegate recalled that the role of the National Police “goes beyond the fight against crime. The National Police is always at the side of the citizenry, especially in the most difficult times. The challenges facing the police force are increasingly complex and diverse: from the protection of the most vulnerable groups to the fight against organized crime, international terrorism, cybercrime, hate crimes or gender violence, to the new security challenges posed by climate change.”
And he stressed that “success in achieving your goals is the shared success of the whole society. Each operation, each investigation and each action brings us closer to a more prosperous future and with greater well-being for all. In this context, the work of the National Police is essential to ensure that all neighbors and neighbors can develop their daily lives with peace of mind.”
Increase the clarification of crimes
Milagros Tolón recalled that “these are challenges that we also have in Toledo where the path is well marked. In the last year, clarified criminal offenses within the jurisdiction of the National Police in the province have increased by 9 percent compared to 2023. This is a fact that should serve as a stimulus to redouble the efforts and resources with which to tackle the fight against crime. We talk about a great challenge that takes on special relevance in this province because of its central situation, its communications and its proximity to the capital of the nation.”
Therefore, the delegate stressed that “the Government of Spain is very aware of this great challenge and, therefore, we will continue to work to improve the figures, reduce crime and increase security in Castilla-La Mancha. The State has been expanding the means and resources in our region, which is reflected in a 20% increase in the number of staff in the last 7 years. These figures will be raised with the latest offer of public employment, which includes 2,707 places for the National Police.”
A commitment to security reinforced “with the improvement of material resources and infrastructures of Castilla-La Mancha. The new drone surveillance systems, the new police stations of Cuenca and Puertollano or the new headquarters of the GEO, whose works are already underway in Guadalajara, are tangible signs of that commitment of the Government of Spain to this community.”
Experience and professionalism of Corcobid
Milagros Tolón has indicated that “in this work we have again in Toledo the experience and professionalism of Manuel Domínguez Corcobid. His career is backed by his police successes, by the decorations he has received and, mainly, by the footprint he has left in each destination due to his cordial and close spirit. Welcome back to your home, welcome to Toledo, a city that now gives you a new opportunity to unfold your proven vocation of public service.”
A collective function that, “for our security and well-being, loyalty and institutional cooperation are essential. Knowing your service sheet we know that working together with the Civil Guard and with the local police of the province will be a constant in your performance. In this regard, I would like to reiterate my willingness and that of the entire Government Delegation to continue collaborating with a common objective: to make Toledo and its cities an increasingly safe land.”
“You will do it in an exemplary way”
Milagros Tolón has finished his speech wishing “all the success in this new stage and that you can share it with your family and loved ones, who are also part of this path. Manuel, I am convinced that under your command the Toledo Police Station will address the mission entrusted to you in an exemplary manner.”
“And I also want to express my appreciation to all the men and women who make up the National Police and the State Security Forces as a whole. Thanks to your daily effort, we can enjoy a more just, free and supportive society. Words and gestures of gratitude for your work and dedication will never be enough.”
The four axes of the new commissioner
For his part, the new provincial commissioner, Manuel Domínguez Corcobid, recalled his trajectory, his last destination was Cuenca, where he has left a great footprint, and has pointed out that he now has two work teams “unbeatable, committed and solvent, in Talavera and in Toledo. Precisely in Toledo, where I have developed a large part of my professional life and therefore I play at home”.
He has stressed that he will have four axes of action: improving care for the citizen, improving objective and subjective security, improving processes and procedures and improving training for prevention. “Our objective is to consolidate these four axes of action, seeking continuous improvement and advancing in coordination and collaboration with the other institutions.”
