Toledo.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, presided on Tuesday the minute of silence at the headquarters of the Government Delegation to express revulsion at the last two confirmed machista murders in our country, which occurred in Jaén and Girona.
Unfortunately, “we have to continue to make visible what we feel, what the administrations can continue to do and we still have a lot to do so that women in this country, in this region, feel safe, feel accompanied and feel ready to denounce, and to fight against this great scourge, which affects not only women but also their sons and daughters,” said the delegate.
Milagros Tolón has pointed out that the Government of Spain “is doing an important job so that this scourge is less and less”; in this sense, “we have just approved that second Pact against Gender Violence in the Congress of Deputies, with one exception, with the party that denies it and that does not believe in equality”.
The Government delegate has called for the unity of all institutions, administrations and society as a whole to curb gender violence, combat inequality and eradicate any form of discrimination against women.
In any case, “I can assure you that we are going to continue working to end this scourge”, concluded the delegate, who also had a memory for the victims and their families of the 11M in a day commemorating the European Day in Memory of the Victims of Terrorism.
The minute of silence was attended by workers from the Delegation and representatives of the State Security Forces and Bodies, the Community Council of Castilla-La Mancha and councillors from the Municipal Corporation of the City of Toledo.
