Toledo.- The Delegation of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha will screen, on Thursday, March 6, “Mucha mierco”, the documentary about the historic strike of actors of 1975. It will be at 19 hours in the Delegation’s Assembly Hall (with entrance through Alfileritos Street, 2), in the city of Toledo, and the entrance will be free until complete capacity.
This screening will be attended by, among others, the delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón; the subdelegate of the Government of Spain in the province of Toledo, Carlos Ángel Devia; and the head of the Unit against Violence against Women in the province of Toledo, Eva María García.
Women's leadership
It was on February 4, 1975 that the theatrical collective, still under the Franco dictatorship, began a strike in order to demand the reduction of the working day. The documentary will hear the testimonies of figures from the tables such as Ana Belén, Marisa Paredes, Rocío Dúrcal, Tina Sainz, Petra Martínez, José Sacristan or Juan Diego among others. Authentic stars of Spanish cinema.
“A lot of shit” (an expression that in the world of entertainment is used to wish success), is directed and co-written by Alba Sotorra. And on February 8, it was exactly 50 years since the arrest of eight of the actors who were on strike, including Rocío Dúrcal and Tina Sainz.
As the director herself said in an interview, “in the documentary we talk about the leadership of women, police surveillance, the violent reaction of the regime, the origin of the money that fed the resistance box, the nights in the legendary clubs of Madrid, the surprising union between comedians and interpreters, prison, reprisals…”.
At that time, as Alba Sotorra pointed out, “the actors were at the mercy of the owners of the rooms and demanded to have a voice and vote in the decisions that affected their profession, but they were denied. Until one day they said enough.”
After the screening of the documentary, a colloquium will be held with David Lara, producer; and with the actor Alberto Alonso.
