Tomelloso (Ciudad Real).- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, visited today the main actions carried out in Tomelloso (Ciudad Real) thanks to the impulse of the Government of Spain with funding from European funds. And, “on a budget of 35 million euros, Tomelloso receives almost 10 million euros of European funds for the transformation and modernization of the city and its municipal services and infrastructures.”
Milagros Tolón thanked the mayor, Javier Navarro, for his welcome and stressed that “Tomelloso is an example of how the decisions taken in Europe directly influence the well-being of people and the improvement of services”. Of these almost 10 million euros of investment in Tomelloso, 3.9 million are from EDUSI, 2.5 million from the Recovery Plan and another 2.5 million from the Tourism Sustainability Plan.”
Accompanied also by the deputy delegate of the Government of Spain in the province of Ciudad Real, David Broceño; the general secretary of the PSOE in Tomelloso, Inmaculada Jiménez; and the socialist spokesman in the city, Francisco José Baratos, the delegate of the Government highlighted “the management carried out in the last 8 years by the previous local government in the capture and processing of these funds. We must also highlight the continuity that the Government of Javier Navarro has given to these projects.”
Because, Milagros Tolón recalled, “municipalities are fundamental for European aid and funds to reach where they are most needed. They know the terrain and the needs and their involvement is key to making the use of the funds effective and beneficial to the neighbors.”
The cultural offer of Tomelloso
The government delegate has visited three examples of aid from European funds, such as the Market of Supplies, “with 1.2 million euros of aid from EDUSI for the rehabilitation of a disused space with a gastronomic approach that dynamizes social and economic activity and is a focus of tourist attraction; the Plaza de España and adjacent streets, with 1.3 million euros of aid (EDUSI). There have been environmental improvements, fountains, lampposts, lawn gardens, children’s area and the beautification of the environment. Or the sculptures of Antonio López, with aid of 500,000 euros from the Tourism Sustainability Plan. Tomelloso’s cultural offer is expanded with the incorporation of this work by one of the most relevant living artists of contemporary Spanish art.”
Minute of silence
The delegate of the Government has also participated in the minute of silence called by the Delegation of the Government as a sign of revulsion for the last male murder in Spain, that of a 48-year-old woman in Benalmadena (Malaga). Minute of silence in which the mayor of Tomelloso, the deputy delegate of the Government in the province of Ciudad Real, councilors of the city council and members of the State Security Forces and Corps have also participated.
