Guadalajara.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, has participated in the inauguration of the parking deterrent in Hermanos Fernández Galiano Street, in Guadalajara, “a commitment of the Government of Spain to the city, with the progress and improvement of the infrastructures so that the neighbors of the city can enjoy better services”.
A commitment, Milagros Tolón stressed, “which is visible today with the inauguration of this car park for whose construction the Government of Spain has contributed more than 2 million euros of Next Generation funds channeled by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility through the Recovery Plan of the Government of Spain. Project that started during the time of Alberto Rojo as mayor.”
The inauguration was attended by the mayor of Guadalajara, Ana Guarinos; the deputy delegate of the Government in the province of Guadalajara, Susana Cabellos; and the national deputy and former mayor Alberto Rojo among other authorities.
About 400 seats
A work “that we have done with the City Council in a developing area where the new university campus is being built and where is located the bus station to which many people travel daily in their private vehicles to Madrid. Hence the importance of having this new car park, which offers about 400 parking spaces, divided into two floors, practically doubling the parking capacity available in this space before the construction.”
From now on, “it is up to the City Council to manage this new car park and complete the implementation of the Low Emissions Zone to contribute to the fight against global warming and as an essential condition for the granting of these funds. Because climate change is a verifiable reality that, unfortunately, we have suffered with special virulence in Castilla-La Mancha, as we have seen recently in Letur (Albacete), Mira and other municipalities of Cuenca and Guadalajara, in addition, of course, to the Valencian Community”.
“Climate change kills”
Because, Milagros Tolón insisted, “climate change kills. Denying scientific evidence and looking the other way is a dangerous positioning and, therefore, it is necessary the commitment of public administrations at all levels to combat its devastating effects. Thank you, dear mayor, for taking on this responsibility that we must share as a society because the future of our planet and the future of our sons and daughters depend on it.”
The delegate of the Government has reiterated “the firm commitment of the Government of Spain to the city of Guadalajara, which today has a clear reflection in the inauguration of this parking lot, but is not the only example. In fact, last July I also had the opportunity to attend the inauguration of the remodeling of the squares of Prim and San Esteban, two emblematic places in the heart of the city; and ahead there are also a good number of projects for the city of Guadalajara that are going to be financed with contributions from the Government of Spain.”
This is the case of:
-the Casa de los Cuentos, included in the Tourist Sustainability Plan of the city, endowed with more than 2.6 million euros by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism;
-the 3 million euros of MITECO to improve efficiency in the water supply system,
-or the more than 2 million euros that the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory approved last week to finance a training project for employment, to name but a few.
Also “through the Board of Communities funds will be channeled from the Government of Spain to develop important projects in the city of Guadalajara such as:
-the new residence of older Los Olmos, with an investment of more than 16 million euros.
-or the construction of affordable housing, also with the participation of the City Council, and a contribution of 7 million from the Ministry of Transport, among other projects.
The new GEO headquarters
Milagros Tolón also recalled that as the Minister of the Interior pointed out a few weeks ago, “very soon will begin the first works of the new headquarters of the GEO in Guadalajara, a project of more than 20 million euros and emblematic for the city for what represents this elite unit of the National Police”.
A boost to Guadalajara “which is reflected in an investment of more than 60 million euros, to which we could add the 90 million euros planned for the Cuatro Caminos project, whose informative study will soon be published”, he said.
