Toledo.- The delegate of the Government in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, visited this Wednesday the exhibition "Imago Regis. Art and portrait in painted documents of the Archive of the Nobility", which is exhibited in the Historical Archive of the Nobility in Toledo. The exhibition offers a unique journey through six centuries of Spanish history, embodied in beautifully ornamented documents that reflect privileges and titles granted by the kings.
Milagros Tolón has highlighted the historical and artistic relevance of the exhibition, which shows unique documents not only for their content, but also for the care and detail with which they were elaborated. “The aesthetics, the decoration, the calligraphy, the ornaments and the binding turn these documents into authentic documentary jewels, of incalculable patrimonial value,” said the delegate.
A journey through six centuries of history
“Imago Regis” allows you to explore the cultural and historical richness of Spain through documents ranging from the 12th century to the 19th century, in which you can see the care and detail in the documentation that granted prebends and privileges to citizens.
This exhibition “is another example of the treasures contained in this Historical Archive of the Nobility, which we are bringing to light today so that Toledo and visitors can know and enjoy its importance”, said Milagros Tolón, who was accompanied during the visit by the director of the Archive, Aranzazu Lafuente, and María del Carmen López-Villalta, curator of the exhibition together with Álvaro Pascual.
The Historical Archive of the Nobility is a reference in documentary preservation, as it guards more than 10 centuries of history through nobiliary and family archives, from the 10th century to the present. “It is a place that not only keeps the story, but also shows it and puts it in value, so that we can better understand our past and build a more informed and conscious future,” added the delegate.
Government commitment to culture
During his visit, Milagros Tolón highlighted the work of the Government of Spain in the preservation, dissemination and accessibility of cultural heritage in the State Museums. In this sense, the Central Executive works to ensure that these spaces are not only guardians of history, but also educational tools and social cohesion that inspire present and future generations.
In addition, Tolón has called on citizens and tourists to visit the exhibition “Imago Regis” and enjoy these unique pieces that are part of the cultural heritage of Spain.
Heritage reconstruction after DANA
On the other hand, the delegate also highlighted the commitment of the Government of Spain to the reconstruction of the areas affected by the DANA in Valencia, which not only involves the restoration of infrastructure, but also the recovery of cultural heritage. In this regard, he highlighted that a worker from the Historical Archive of the Nobility has traveled to Valencia to collaborate in the recovery of historical and municipal archives damaged by floods.
