Toledo.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, has reported today in a press conference on the investments granted by the Government of Spain to the municipalities of Castilla-La Mancha that requested aid to repair the damages caused by the DANA of 2023, and that add up to more than 37 million euros distributed in different localities of the autonomous community. In September of that year “a strong storm crossed our country generating torrential rains that caused the death of eight people, four of them in Castilla-La Mancha, causing numerous material damage in our region”.
Call for grants
The delegate of the Government recalled that on September 25, 2023 “the Council of Ministers declared as an Area seriously affected by a Civil Protection emergency, what was previously known as a catastrophic Area, the counties of our autonomous community damaged by the passage of this DANA. In this way, the administrative procedure was activated to request the aid that the State contemplates for these cases and from which the municipalities also benefit.”
It was then that the Ministry of Territorial Policy “opened for local corporations the corresponding call for subsidies for the repair of infrastructure, equipment and facilities and services of municipal ownership, as well as provincial road networks. And I would like to highlight here the work done by the subdelegations of the Government in Castilla-La Mancha in the processing of the files with the utmost urgency and diligence, a work that is culminated with the resolution published this week by the Ministry of Territorial Policy.”
Milagros Tolón also wanted to “recognize the management of the provincial councils, which are the entities that will finally send the aid to the requesting municipalities, and of the technical services of the municipalities”.
Grants, by province
Thus, “the Government of Spain will allocate a total of 37,252,643.47 euros to Castilla-La Mancha to alleviate the effects of the DANA of 2023 in a total of 194 municipalities in our region, in addition to the five provincial deputies”.
Funds that, as explained by the Government delegate, are distributed as follows:
- Province of Albacete: 7,440,373.93 euros.
- Ciudad Real: 823.681.48 euros.
- Cuenca: 12,133,266.70 euros.
- Guadalajara: 893,834.08 euros.
- And Toledo: 15,961,487.28 euros.
“As you can see,” said the delegate of the Government, “this resolution includes the 15.9 million euros for Toledo and the 12.1 million euros for the province of Cuenca announced last week, since, being items that exceed 12 million euros had to be previously authorized by the Council of Ministers.”
In total, “37 million granted by the Government of Spain that add to the contribution of the corporations themselves, in such a way that in our autonomous community almost 80 million euros of investment is mobilized for the repair of municipal centers and infrastructures and provincial road networks”.
“The government has acted with agility”
Milagros Tolón has insisted that “since the beginning of the emergency, the Government has acted swiftly, has reduced the response times to this type of event and has reaffirmed its commitment to speed up the processing of aid and accompany the deputies and municipalities affected. Despite the attempt of some parties to hide it, divert attention and embarrass everything, the reality is that the Spanish Government responds to the real needs of the citizens of Castilla-La Mancha, its companies and its municipalities.”
A commitment that “only this week, this commitment can be seen in agreements and resolutions to allocate 90 million euros to Castilla-La Mancha. Let’s remember:
- 14 million of the Decarbonization PERTE.
- 38 million regional incentives.
- And these 37 million for DANA.”
