Toledo.- The delegate of the Government in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, attended this Sunday the Solidarity Race Against the ALS "José Luis García Fernández Memorial" organized by the Eurocaja Rural Foundation in Toledo, where she has transferred the firm support of the Government of Spain to initiatives such as this, which aim to raise awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), raise funds for research and offer assistance to patients and their families.
“The solidarity of Toledo and Castile-Manchega society is a fundamental pillar to advance the fight against ALS. This race is a clear example of how collective effort and awareness can make a difference in the lives of so many people affected by this neurodegenerative disease,” said the delegate.
Milagros Tolón has highlighted the commitment of the Government of Spain to improve the quality of life of those affected and has valued the agreement with the parliamentary groups to speed up the approval of the ELA Law, a decisive step to meet the needs of thousands of people with irreversible neurological diseases.
In this sense, the new legislation will guarantee specialized care 24 hours a day, streamline the processes of assessment and recognition of the degree of dependence and disability and will mean a reinforcement of research to improve diagnoses and treatments, among other improvements.
In short, “the ELA Act will not only guarantee rights, but will also represent a significant advance in the well-being of patients, their families and caregivers, who deserve all our support and respect,” said Tolón.
The delegate of the Government thanked the entities and associations for their constant effort and dedication to make this law a reality, as well as their daily work in the care and care of those affected, since without their involvement these advances would not be possible.
Finally, he acknowledged the important work of the Eurocaja Rural Foundation for the organization of this solidarity event, which not only makes visible a disease that affects thousands of people, but also contributes to raising fundamental funds to continue advancing research and assistance. “Thank you for being an example of solidarity and commitment. Initiatives like this show that, together, we can make great strides for those who need it most,” he concluded.
