Las Pedroñeras (Cuenca).- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, participated in the concentration and minute of silence that was held this Monday in Las Pedroñeras (Cuenca) called by the City Council for the death of one of its neighbors and their two children, victims of the violence of a male chauffeur.
Milagros Tolón has conveyed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, 30 years old, as well as to the municipal corporation, in the person of its mayor, José Manuel Tortosa, and to the entire municipality of Las Pedroñeras that mourns these days the murder of one of its neighbors allegedly at the hands of his ex-partner, who has been detained.
The delegate of the Government has pointed out that in the face of the scourge of male violence “the institutions must remain united and isolate those who deny gender violence.” After the cases that have been known this weekend “it is essential that institutions and civil society mobilize” to eradicate male violence.
Milagros Tolón, who has highlighted the work done by the Civil Guard, has reiterated the effort of the Government of Spain, “which will not cease in this fight”, committing more resources and more policies aimed at education, awareness, prevention and protection of victims.
“It is important to stand up and say no to those far-right parties that deny that there is male violence and that also boast of it,” said the delegate of the Government, who stressed that it is time for political and institutional unity to end this scourge and has transferred the collaboration of the Government of Spain for the repatriation of the bodies to Morocco.
Residents of the town, as well as public representatives, including the second vice-president of Castilla-La Mancha, José Luis Martínez Guijarro; the councillor for Equality, Sara Simón; and the deputy delegate of the Government in Cuenca, Mª Luz Fernández, among other authorities, attended the rally in the plaza of the City of Las Pedroñeras.
