Puertollano, The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, participated this Thursday in Puertollano (Ciudad Real) in the inauguration of the monument dedicated to the National Police on the occasion of its bicentenary, an act in which the mayor of the town, Miguel Ángel Ruiz, and the superior chief of Police of Castilla-La Mancha, Javier Pérez Castillo, have also intervened. The deputy delegate of the Government in Ciudad Real, David Broceño, and the commissioner of Puertollano, Julián Maroto, among other authorities, have also attended.
Milagros Tolón expressed an affectionate greeting on behalf of the Director General of the Police, Francisco Pardo, and assured that, as a delegate of the Government, “it is a great honor to participate in this day and to be able to thank the neighbors of Puertollano for the placement of this monument.”
“The piece that presides over this public space today, together with the appointment of ambassador of the Santo Voto, are the confirmation of the affection, respect and appreciation that the municipality of Puertollano has for the National Police,” he said in his speech.
This Corps is always among the institutions most loved by society, “an assessment that confirms the affection of Spaniards for their closeness and for their work in the defense of our rights and freedoms”, said Milagros Tolón, who highlighted “the work that the Police carry out day by day” and that is fundamental “for the coexistence and development of our country and its municipalities”.
In this common project that is Spain and its Constitution of 1978, “the National Police performs an essential task on which we have built a prosperous and safe country, with the solid foundations of freedom, equality, solidarity and tolerance”, he continued.
At present, “the challenges that the police now face are shared as a society and, in this task, the Government of Spain has committed itself to continue improving training and human and material resources in order to remain one of the safest countries in the world”.
In this regard, he recalled the investment of 6.4 million euros for the new Police Station of the National Police of Puertollano, “a modern building, adapted to the needs of agents and citizens that we hope to be able to inaugurate in the coming months”.
Family recognition
“On this day we discovered this monolith to symbolize the unbreakable link of the National Police Force with Puertollano and with the well-being of its people,” said the delegate of the Government, for whom this act “must be a recognition to the families of the police who have shared with their loved ones the hard moments of service and satisfaction in the accomplishment of the duty fulfilled.”
He has also had a memory for the policemen who have given their lives in the act of service “defending our security, which is the right on which the rest of rights and freedoms are based; because only when one feels secure, can one exercise the rest of rights, including freedom.”
Service, dignity, dedication and loyalty are the values of a national police force “that I share as a government delegate and that we all share as a society. Universal values that are represented with humility and simplicity, but with all their strength and validity, in the monument that we inaugurate today,” he said.
Finally, he congratulated the National Police, congratulated the City Council for this initiative and thanked the people of Puertollano for this tribute.
