Toledo.- On March 31, 2024, both the Court of Violence against Women number 1 in Toledo and the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 8 in Illescas (Toledo) will become operational, as published today in the Official State Gazette (BOE). This demonstrates, as stressed by the delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, “the continuous commitment of the State, through the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts, with the judiciary and with citizens.”
The Violence against Women Court number 1 in Toledo will cover the judicial parties of Toledo, Illescas and Orgaz and will be located in the facilities of the Palace of Justice of the regional capital, located on Marqués de Mendigorría Street. It will have a courtroom and a victims’ room.
The Court of First Instance and Instruction number 8 of Illescas (Toledo) will relieve and relieve the work of the other seven courts of Illescas, whose population has experienced a great growth in recent years.
The Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts also plans to tender during the second quarter of 2024 the contract for the works of what will be the new judicial building of Illescas, which will house all the Courts of this judicial party, currently scattered in various buildings throughout the town.
Institute of Legal Medicine under construction
In addition, the construction works of the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences in the city of Toledo continue. A work planned in a single phase and whose entry into operation will solve one of the biggest problems that there is in the province, such as not having a worthy headquarters for the Institute of Legal Medicine. The autopsies, until now, are practiced in the Toledo tanatorium.
The new building will have three floors plus a basement floor and will be next to the municipal cemetery, with access from Denmark Street. The deadline for completion of the works is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.
The comprehensive renovation works are also continuing at the Provincial High Court of Toledo, a unique building that was built before 1800 and is located in the historic center of the regional capital. A building in which the Provincial High Court, the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Jury Court are located.
Finally, on February 9, the Secretary of State for Justice, Manuel Olmedo, announced the tender during the second half of 2024 for the construction works of the new building of the Courts of Talavera de la Reina (Toledo).
