Toledo.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón, took stock on Tuesday before the media of the benefits that the social and economic measures approved by the Government of Spain in the last year have had on the inhabitants of Castilla-La Mancha and the province of Toledo.
Accompanied by the deputy delegate of the Government of Spain in Toledo, Carlos Ángel Devia, Milagros Tolón has reviewed the impact that the increase in pensions, the reduction in transport, the increase in the Minimum Wage, the Social Bonus, the Labor Reform or the behavior of employment has had on the population of Castilla-La Mancha, with the increase in Social Security affiliations.
Data provided by the delegate that show how the action of the Government of Spain “has a positive, real and direct impact on the people who live and work in Castilla-La Mancha and in the province of Toledo”. Figures that confirm that the measures of the Government of Spain allow to counteract “a very complex and adverse economic and social context for the most vulnerable families”.
“We manage the economy better because we put it at the service of the people,” said Milagros Tolón, who insisted that the Government of Pedro Sánchez “has focused on what is important, which is to guarantee a fairer distribution of wealth and access to public services to make the Spain of opportunities a reality.”
The data and resources destined for Castilla-La Mancha “confirm that people are the central axis of the action of the Government of Spain and their priority is that the agreements adopted in the Council of Ministers reach the people and improve life in our towns and cities”.
Guesthouses
Milagros Tolón has begun this review for the benefit that has meant the revaluation of pensions. In this sense, with the Government of Pedro Sánchez, the average retirement pension in Castilla-La Mancha has gone from 1,022 euros in 2018 to 1,320 euros for this 2024, an increase of 29.16%.
The delegate pointed out that, with the PP model, which kept pensions frozen since 2013, “the average retirement pension today would be 1,038 euros, but with the PSOE Government, as I say, it is 1,320 euros”.
This measure benefits 232,111 retired pensioners from Castilla-La Mancha. For its part, in the province of Toledo, the average retirement pension is 1,304 euros, 289 euros more than with the PP in 2018. In the province of Toledo there are 77,144 retired pensioners.
“This is undoubtedly one of the greatest achievements that have been consolidated in the last four years that allows today retirees and retirees in our region to have a revaluation that is updated every year according to the evolution of the cost of living,” said Milagros Tolón, who recalled that on this increase in pensions “the PP and Vox have recently voted against in the Congress of Deputies for 2024.”
Undefined contracts
On the other hand, the Labor Reform has allowed that, since 2019, the number of indefinite contracts has increased in Castilla-La Mancha by 279%. “From 74,961 contracts in 2019 we have gone to 284,213 in 2024; that is 209,000 indefinite contracts more than five years ago when the PP ruled.” In the province of Toledo the increase was 223%, reaching 75,749 current contracts.
Social Security
The good performance of the labor market is also reflected in the Social Security that as of December 2023 adds 772,693 members in Castilla-La Mancha, “66,495 more than in December 2018, with a PP Government”. The data in the province of Toledo are equally positive, with 260,033 members of the Social Security, 30,754 more than in December of 18.
Unemployment
Milagros Tolón mentioned that the total number of unemployed in Castilla-La Mancha in 2018 was 160,000 people, and at the end of 2023 it is 126,800; that is, “today there are 43,200 unemployed less than when the PP ruled in 2018”. By age, the number of unemployed people under 25 has fallen by 11,200 young people and, in addition, we have 20,400 fewer women in unemployment than 5 years ago.
Minimum Wage
In this area, “the recent increase in the minimum wage approved by the Government of Spain will benefit 77,000 workers from Castilla-La Mancha”, said the delegate referring to a CCOO report that states that with the 5% increase agreed by the Government with the unions, “they will receive 54 more gross euros each month”.
Regional incentives
On the other hand, in terms of regional incentives, a program aimed at companies as generators of employment, in 2023 25 projects have been approved for Castilla-La Mancha involving a total investment of 254.2 million euros. These initiatives have received 53.3 million euros of funding from the Government of Spain and have created 764 jobs and maintained 3,240 jobs.
Scholarships
The government delegate also mentioned that the State “allocates 78.6 million euros in scholarships to our region, from which 34,508 students benefited in the academic year 2022-2023.” 9,220 are from the province of Toledo with a total of 18 million euros.
Transportation
As for Transport, so far in 2024, more than 43,000 people benefit in Castilla-La Mancha from free tickets and the 50% discount on AVANT train tickets. Throughout the year 2023, a total of 215,000 subscriptions have been issued in Castilla-La Mancha. In the case of Toledo, in this 2024, 8,041 titles subject to these bonuses have already been issued in the transport subscriptions, according to the data offered by the delegate.
Minimum Vital Income
Finally, for the most vulnerable groups, the Minimum Vital Income has reached 29,471 families in Castilla-La Mancha and benefits 93,064 people; and the Social Electric Bonus benefits 105,691 people. In the province of Toledo there are 31,363 beneficiaries of the Minimum Vital Income and 33,289 beneficiaries of the Social Electric Bonus.
“These data that I have conveyed to you in this hearing are the confirmation of the commitment of the Government of Spain to social justice, to stable and quality employment and to the well-being of people.” Behind these numbers and figures “are the men and women of Castilla-La Mancha, the families, and the neighbors of the 919 towns and cities of this autonomous community,” said Milagros Tolón.
Works on roads, railways and courts
In addition, the deputy delegate of the Government of Spain in the province of Toledo, Carlos Ángel Devia, stressed that, in terms of infrastructure, “the central government works for the welfare of the people, so that each citizen can move or move to their places of work in the best possible conditions”.
Regarding road infrastructure, in 2023, 25.5 million euros were invested “in roads that for years were no longer maintained and maintained”, in reference to the PP governments, “which has now required a great investment effort”.
The project of the route of the A-42 with the neighborhoods of the Polygon and Santa Barbara, in the city of Toledo; and the third lane of the TO-23 or road of the Polygon, “with lighting included, for 4 million euros” has already been approved. In addition to the approval and publication of the environmental impact statement of the third lane on the A-5, in the stretch between the border of the province of Madrid to Maquedá. “Projects that the PP left in the drawer for many years and that we have now recovered.” In addition to the N-502, “which for 30 years was forgotten and affects the region of La Jara and the Campana de Oropesa”.
In railway infrastructures, two fundamental projects of electrification of the track are under way, the stretch between Illescas and Humanes; and the stretch between Illescas and Talayuela. Therefore, the wording of all the projects of electrification of the Madrid-Externmadura conventional rail track by the province of Toledo has already been mentioned.
