Toledo.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla-La Mancha, Francisco Tierraseca, has explained that the specific Security Plan that is established by the Civil Guard on the occasion of the olive campaign "is already in progress" and that there is "a very reinforced surveillance and prevention" so that it develops normally and without incidents of relevance.
This has been transferred by Tierraseca to the ASAJA association in Castilla-La Mancha, with which it has met at the request of the delegate, to address the device that has been designed by the Civil Guard, which began in early September and will be maintained, in provinces with greater production such as Toledo, until March 31.
A device in which specialized Civil Guard units participate, such as the Roca Teams -focused on preventing thefts in the field-, “which are the ones that carry the greatest load of the device,” the delegate has reported, as well as members of the Citizen Security Units and the Seprona, for environmental monitoring.
The government delegate has also conveyed, through ASAJA, to those responsible for olive cooperatives, oil mills and farms, a message of tranquility based on coordinated work and permanent contact between security forces and agricultural organizations. “The Civil Guard is working on prevention work on the ground”, to which it has also confirmed that, “to this day, there have been no thefts of olives or olive oil” in the region. Therefore, he stressed that “we are alert and mobilized at the beginning of the campaign, but there is no alarm, because robberies are not taking place, and because we all work in a coordinated way so that they do not take place”.
On this issue, the government delegate has also requested that, in the event of theft, “they be reported immediately to the Civil Guard, so that action can be taken, investigation and possible new cases can be avoided.”
Sector support
Francisco Tierraseca also took advantage of the meeting with the representatives of ASAJA in Castilla-La Mancha to take stock of the action of the Government of Spain in this region in support of the agricultural and livestock sector.
The delegate mentioned that just yesterday the deadline for payment of the advance payments of the CAP in Castilla-La Mancha began, which will amount to an amount of around 300 million euros.
In addition, he added that, for the first time in our country, the sector has received a series of direct aid, without having to apply for it, with a million dollar investment to alleviate the complicated situations they are going through. In this way, he mentioned the EUR 36.5 million to alleviate the effects of the drought, which have benefited more than 4,100 farmers and ranchers in the region, and the more than EUR 59 million allocated to 45,594 farm owners to compensate for the rise in fertiliser prices. “In total, more than 395 million euros in recent months alone, which demonstrates the commitment of the Government by the sector in general and by the Castilian-Manchego in particular.”
