Renfe, in collaboration with Turismo de Castilla-La Mancha, puts in circulation the tourist train `Tren del Mercurio´ on Saturday, October 14, with origin in the Madrid-Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes station and destination Puertollano, to learn about the history of mining in the area with a visit to the Mining Park of Almadén (Ciudad Real), World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and the Mining Museum at the Royal Hospital of Miners of San Rafael.
The ticket of this thematic train also includes a guided route with a World Heritage specialist with security knowledge to get down to the Almadén Mine and take a tour in a mining train through the extraction gallery, along with another visit to the Mercury Museum, where the collection of fossils and minerals is located and you can enjoy the physical and chemical processes of mercury.
The trip of the Mercury Train will take place on October 14 on an AVE train, from the Madrid-Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes station at 8:53h (with later return at 21:06h). The arrival at the Puertollano station will be at 10:02h. The ticket price is 50 euros for adults and 20 euros for children under 14 years of age. Children under 4 years of age who do not have a seat travel free of charge (maximum one child for each payment ticket, having to obtain the corresponding ticket free of charge).
The purchase of tickets must be anticipated and is available on Renfe’s sales channels: on the web renfe.com, at the ticket offices of the stations, on 91 232 03 20 and in face-to-face and virtual travel agencies.
Renfe launches its tourist and thematic trains to promote culture, to encourage mobility and sustainable tourism with its electric trains, focused not only on visiting the existing deposits in this case, to know the geological wealth of the country, but also to create a memorable experience linked to enjoyment along the journey on its trains.
