Ciudad Real.- The subdelegate of the Government in Ciudad Real, María de los Ángeles Herreros Ramírez, this morning presided over the ‘Provincial Commission for the Management, Coordination, and Socio-Labor Integration of Labor Migratory Flows in Agricultural Campaigns’, with the aim of reviewing the needs that agricultural campaigns may entail this year and analyzing the development of the conditions in which the previous campaign was worked.
The GOMIX groups, made up of members of the Civil and Alien Guard of the National Police Force, and in coordination with the Labour Inspectorate, carried out 55 inspections in localities of the province in 2022 to combat irregular employment and social security fraud, having identified 616 people and arrested 12 of them for illegal stay.
In addition, during the meeting, special emphasis was placed on the need for further monitoring in order to prevent settlements from occurring in the province and for employers to distrust intermediaries who are not established as genuine service companies.
Herreros stressed the importance of the coordination of all institutions and the agricultural sector “to achieve orderly agricultural campaigns that guarantee decent working and housing conditions for seasonal workers,” as well as thanking the commitment of both employers and workers, trade unions and the State Security Forces “so that this compliance can assure us all”.
They have attended the meeting by the Central Administration of the State; the Labour Inspectorate, SEPE, and the Social Security Treasury, as well as representatives of the State Security Forces and Bodies, trade unions and agricultural organizations, and by the Community Board, SEPECAM and the provincial delegation of Agriculture.
On the part of the Aliens and Immigration Unit, they have reported that there is no waiting list for the issuance of children to work in the agricultural campaigns, being Romanians, Bulgarians and Moroccans the main workforce of the Community and non-Community endowments of agricultural workers.
Particular emphasis has been placed on recent changes in labour regulations, such as mandatory compliance with the increase in the SMI and the termination of fixed-term contracts due to the so-called contracts for discontinuous fixed contracts.
With regard to the INSS in the province of Ciudad Real, there are more than 173,000 workers in the ranks, of whom 8,600 are employed by the agricultural system, and of the 20,300 companies located in the province, 3,024 are located in the agricultural sector.
