Guadalajara.- The Subdelegation of the Government of Spain in the province Guadalajara hosted yesterday an open day attended by about a hundred people. Students of Baccalaureate and Vocational Training from the IES Brianda de Mendoza and Castilla, representatives of NGOs (Guada Coa, ACCEM and Red Cross) and sports clubs Meliz Sport and Unión Guadalajara) and the Provincial Association of Farmers and Ranchers (APAG) had the opportunity to know at first hand the functioning of services such as the Aliens Office or how they can relate telematically with the Administration. The National Geographic Institute (IGN) also participated, showing how to access virtually the educational content and resources it offers.
The deputy delegate of the Government, Mercedes Gómez, thanked them for their participation, stressing that “this is an activity aimed at bringing public administrations closer to the citizens and showing how they work inside and how services are provided”. The open day is part of the Open Government Week, an initiative promoted worldwide by the Open Gov Week, which this year is held in Spain between 20 and 24 March.
Gómez highlighted “the commitment of the Government of Spain at all levels to the principles of Open Government: transparency, accountability, citizen participation, public integrity and collaboration,” and said that “this model must serve to change the way we work, orienting us towards an administration that actively listens to the citizens.”
More than a thousand events
The Open Administration Week is being coordinated by the Ministry of Finance and Public Service, through the General Directorate of Public Governance. In 2022, Spain was leader among the 77 member countries of the Open Government Alliance, with the organization of 500 activities. In 2023, this record will be broken, since more than 1,000 events have been registered in the Transparency Portal.
Of the 1,009 registered activities, 694 are organized by the General Administration of the State. The Ministry of Territorial Policy has organized a total of 172 events, including the open days of government delegations and subdelegations.
