Cuenca.- A total of 4,874 people benefit in the province of Cuenca from the Minimum Vital Income (IMV). According to statistics published by the National Institute of Social Security, the benefit had reached 1,591 households in Cuenca at the end of February.
According to these data, in 57.57% of the files, the headlines are women, compared to 42.43% for men. The deputy delegate of the Government, Mª Luz Fernández, has stressed that this data “demonstrates the inequality that still lies in terms of gender”. If the total number of beneficiaries is taken into account, 52.93% are women (2,580).
This measure represents a guarantee of income for the most vulnerable families, especially in households where minors live, being 44.87% of the beneficiaries in the province of Cuenca. Fernández has valued the importance of this measure, “acting as an effective shield of social protection, especially with minors.”
Thus, according to INSS data, the number of benefits with the Child Support Supplement (CAPI) is already 943 in the province of Cuenca. The ICSC, which entered into force in January 2022, is an aid that reaches 115 euros per household per month since January 2023, in the case of children from 0 to 3 years; 80.50 euros per month, for each child between 3 and 6 years, and 57.50 euros per month, for each child between 6 and 18 years.
The Minimum Vital Income is part of a set of living policies that are constantly updated to guarantee the social shield to the most disadvantaged, “because people are the backbone of this government’s policy”, concluded the subdelegate.
