Toledo.- The Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosana Morillo, participated this morning in the presentation of the investments of the State in the field of Tourism in Castilla-La Mancha that, since 2020, have amounted to 109,869,979 euros. The event, attended by the government delegate in Castilla-La Mancha, Francisco Tierraseca, was also attended by the president of the Board, Emiliano García-Page, and the Minister of Economy, Companies and Employment of the regional government, Patricia Franco.
In his speech, Morillo referred to the 15 Destination Tourism Sustainability Plans approved for the region under the Spanish Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR). In the first extraordinary call of these plans (2021), six projects were approved for a total of 35.1 million euros, to which another 43.8 million were added in the call of 2022. Two of the latter, called ‘Enogastronomical Tourism in Castilla-La Mancha’ and ‘Ciudad Real: sustainable enogastrotourism’ entered the National Plan of Enogastronomical Tourism, the national priority agreed by Government and communities for that year.
Morillo has noted the recovery of the tourism sector in the region over the past year and has called on public and private actors to “take advantage of the greatest opportunity in history to face great challenges and promote the necessary competitive transformation of the sector through major projects and aid”.
In the third extraordinary call for Sustainability Plans, open on January 27, the community will receive another 25.2 million euros, so that by the end of the process, the Castile-Manchego Sustainability Plans will have been endowed with a total of 104.1 million euros from the Government PRTR in three years, the largest contribution of the State to the region in Tourism made so far.
In addition to these sustainability plans, which are fully funded by the Secretary of State under the PRTR, another nine are co-financed with the Board and the local entities involved. In total, the Secretariat ' s contribution to these projects, which comes from its regular budget, amounted to Euro5.4 million.
Historical Heritage Grants
Also under the PRTR and within the Boost Heritage Plan, the Government has allocated two grants of 3 million euros to the two World Heritage Cities of the region: Toledo and Cuenca. The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has also received another 3.2 million from the Secretary of State for the restoration of the Casa de las Torres, in Tembleque (Toledo). Another 8.1 million will go to the restoration and improvement works of the Paradores de Alarcón, Cuenca, Oropesa and Sigüenza, all built in Goods of Cultural Interest.
Finally and always within the grants from the PRTR of the Government of Spain, the Secretary of State has committed another 8.2 million euros for the community in the field of Energy Efficiency Grants, distributed by the regional government for projects of sustainability, energy saving, circular economy and digitization in tourist accommodation establishments.
