Toledo.- The deputy delegate of the Government in Toledo, Carlos Ángel Devia, presided this morning, together with the mayor of Oropesa, Juan Antonio Morcillo, the Local Security Board of the municipality.
This coordinating body has been convened on the occasion of the celebration of the twenty-second edition of its traditional Medieval Days, which will be held during the next 21, 22 and 23 April.
The Medieval Days of Oropesa bring together more than 30,000 visitors during those three days in the town. This event was declared a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest in 2014, which commemorates the granting to the villa, by King Alfonso XI, of the privilege of celebrating a market during the month of April.
The subdelegate of the Government has stressed the relevance of these Medieval Days, as a dynamizing element for local tourism and has highlighted that “the municipality throws very low figures of incidents in terms of citizen security, compared to the provincial average”.
The planned security mechanism will include agents of the Civil Guard, supported by the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) of the Toledo Command, Cinological Service and SEPRONA, Civil Protection volunteers, from fifteen groups of neighboring localities, a 24-hour health device in the Health Center and Fire Service.
In the course of the session, the development of the program and the activities that concentrate the greatest number of visitors and of risk such as the inaugural parade, the theatrical representation 'The destiny of the princess', the torch parade or the medieval market, all of them, in the monumental stage of the Villa de Oropesa.
The Emergency Plan prepared by the City Council has also studied the evacuation routes, the different spaces where the activities are carried out, which have their neuralgic center in the Castle and the measures adopted for the prevention and extinguishment of fires, in addition to reporting on the habilitation of information centers, the command post for the coordination of all the personnel involved in the security device and the existence of a ‘Violet Point’.
The Local Security Board has been attended by officials from the Civil Guard, Local Police, Civil Protection, Firefighters and the Toledo Citizen Protection Service of the Board of Communities, as well as members of the municipal government team, whom the mayor, Juan Antonio Morcillo, has thanked for their participation and their involvement in guaranteeing security in the Medieval Days.
