Ciudad Real.- The Government of Spain, through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism (Mincotur), will finance with 3,073,264.80 euros the projects presented by the City of Tomelloso and Villanueva de los Infantes to modernize and digitize the rural market. This aid is part of the call for the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan aimed at promoting and boosting the competitiveness of small businesses.
The subdelegate of the Government in Ciudad Real, Mª de los Ángeles Herreros, explained that, “this initiative will allow to enhance and transform the commercial activity of these populations and, it is a key element to establish population, favor their development and fight against depopulation.” Herreros added that the funds of the Recovery Plan “offer a unique opportunity to improve the quality of life of the rural population with projects like this, which modernize the commercial fabric that is part of the identity of our cities and towns.”
The project presented by the City of Tomelloso within the line of "areas of great tourist influx" will be focused on promoting the competitiveness, innovation and modernization of the commercial and tourist activity of the town. To this end, urban roads with tourist and commercial impact will be improved, with a firm commitment to physical accessibility and cognitive accessibility as a social resource and opportunity in commercial relations. The amount of aid granted is 1,758,458.40 euros.
As for the project presented by the City of Villanueva de los Infantes consists in the rehabilitation of the market of supplies adapting it for the celebration of gastronomic events, and in facing improvements of the accessibility of the commercial area, capturing new segments and building loyalty to the already existing ones. In addition, we want to promote local businesses, products, gastronomy and crafts with advertising, communication and visibility through digital media with online payment campaigns on Google and social networks. The project, which is within the line of “sustainable urban markets” has a grant of 1,315,806.40 euros, and would be completed with the installation of smart islands for the selective collection of waste, thus promoting a sustainable and environmentally friendly environment.
More than 100 million for the whole of Spain
In total, 119 projects from all the autonomous communities will receive 104.52 million euros, according to the Next Generation EU funds, which contemplate a global allocation of 415 million euros between the years 2021 to 2023 to favor and boost the competitiveness of small trade.
