• The government delegate in Cantabria has participated in the event for the festival of the Guardian Angels in Torrelavega

The government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, has highlighted the “effective work” of the National Police in Torrelavega and “coordinated” with the Local Police to guarantee citizen security in the city.

Casares highlighted this fact this Friday at the event on the occasion of the festivity of the Guardian Angels, patrons of the National Police, held at the Recreational Circle in Torrelavega.

The delegate pointed out that the coordinated work between the two bodies is making it possible to “curb crime” and “combat all kinds of crimes.” “If Torrelavega is a safe city today, it is without doubt because of your enormous commitment and your dedication and public service,” he added.

Casares has pointed out that the best evidence of this work is the data and has pointed out that the crimes in Torrelavega decreased by 6.4% until the second quarter, until June, compared to the same period of 2024.

“Those are the figures, and we will continue to work to reduce crime rates as much as we can,” said the government delegate.

And he ended by thanking the staff of the National Police in Torrelavega for their “professionalism and effectiveness” and also highlighted the role of their families that is “fundamental” in this profession.

The government delegate has presided over the event in which, in addition to the superior chief of Police of Cantabria, Carmen Martínez, and the head of the Local Police Station of Torrelavega, Fernando Antonio Chemelal, the mayor of Torrelavega, Javier López Estrada, and the Councilor for Presidency, Justice, Security and Administrative Simplification, Isabel Urrutia, among other authorities, have participated.

During the event, three officials of the National Police of Torrelavega and two people outside the body have been given the Cross to Police Merit with white badge, and also three commemorative plaques to people who have been signified by their collaboration and cooperation with the Police.

The Local Commissioner of Torrelavega has delivered these plates to Julián Crespo and Mercedes Muñoz, owners of the ‘Kiosko Torrelavega’; to Julio García, owner of the Garman Flower Shop, and to María Teresa Sámano, head of the Negotiated DNI Torrelavega.
