The government delegate in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, has advanced that the Government of Spain will execute in this year 2025 more than 144 million euros only in actions in the State Road Network in the autonomous community.
An investment that is “visible” in “important projects” such as the Sierrapando-Barreda continuity branch already inaugurated, the integral reform of the Hermida Gorge or the expansion of capacity of the A-67 between Polanco and Santa Cruz de Bezana, a work of more than 170 million euros and in which “the pace of work is accelerating”, said Casares.
He has also highlighted that action is being taken in several tunnels of the state network, both of the motorways and of the national ones, with an investment of 50 million euros and has announced that all these works will end before December.
This was detailed by the government delegate in Cantabria this Wednesday in statements to the media after the meeting he had with the regional deputy and candidate of the Regionalist Party of Cantabria (PRC), Paula Fernández.
Casares has transferred the “firm commitment” of the Executive of Pedro Sánchez to the community and has evidenced it in a review of actions and investments, many of which were “historical claims” of the region until the arrival of this Government.
RAILWAY NETWORK
In addition to roads, the representative of the State has praised the "great project" of the Government for the integral improvement of the commuter network in Cantabria and which is materialized through a plan with investments of 1,600 million euros.
And he has detailed that actions worth 700 million, or 44% of the total investment of the plan, are already executed or in execution. “700 million euros against the zero euros that were invested nearby during the PP government of Mariano Rajoy and we had a minister of Development of Cantabria,” he said.
At this point, he also referred to the contract for the new trains of the commuter network, which “is in execution and, therefore, the new rolling units under construction” and, while they arrive, the Government of Spain will maintain its commitment to Cantabria that “trains will be free until the arrival of the last units”.
He also highlighted the project for the arrival of the high speed to Reinosa, which “is in extraordinary health and will see the light thanks to the Government of Pedro Sánchez” that has in execution or tender “all the sections in the province of Palencia” and in study the remaining until capital of Campoo.
He also referred to the train project between Santander and Bilbao, which he said is “a firm commitment of this government”. “If we are now arguing about whether or when it will arrive, it is because this government has decided to do so. We are trying to make it viable, develop it and see it executed as soon as possible,” he added.
COMMITMENT TO DIALOGUE
The government delegate in Cantabria has praised as “positive” the meeting with Paula Fernández and framed in a “climate of dialogue and understanding” that is what “must be among all the institutions and political agents” of the community.
And he has insisted on demanding “that shared work and dialogue” from the Government of Cantabria of the PP and its president, María José Sáenz de Buruaga.
Precisely, to conclude, he has again asked the regional president to “recapacitate and rectify” so that the Autonomous Government welcomes the debt relief that will mean savings for the Cantabrians of 809 million euros in debt, as well as 60 million interests, which “can be used to strengthen public services”.
