The Cantabrian Hydrographic Confederation has begun work on maintenance, conservation and improvement in the Llana stream, in the vicinity of the town of Borleña, in the municipality of Corvera de Toranzo. These works are carried out with the aim of recovering the drainage section of the section and thus avoiding the loss of materials from the stream bed, which could generate problems of stability of the splines of the channeled section.
In the vicinity of the town of Burleña, on the riverbed of the Llana stream, there have been accumulations of carries on the left bank. These accumulations are causing the channel not to have an adequate drainage section. In addition, the vegetation is colonizing these deposits, further reducing the drainage capacity.
The actions, with an initial investment of 11 500 €, will include the removal of vegetable remains, the selective extraction and mechanized re-stacking of the cartons present in the central area of the gully, as well as the filling of the undermined materials.
The works are carried out through the public company Tragsa within the Maintenance and Conservation of Waterways Program developed by the Cantabrian Hydrographic Confederation outside urban areas, since in urban areas the conservation and maintenance of waterways are the responsibility of the municipalities.
In the year 2024, the investment made in conservation and maintenance works of waterways in Cantabria was 1.46 million euros, distributed in 68 actions in 41 municipalities.
