The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility will carry out a fire accident simulation in the Bárcena Tunnel in Pie de Concha on the N-611 road next Thursday, June 5, and during it, there will be traffic restrictions that will be duly signposted.
This action involves the closure in both directions of the aforementioned road, between km 150,320 and km 156,320. The traffic closure, including the Pie de Concha Barcena Tunnel, will be maintained from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5.
To ensure the fluidity of traffic during this time, an alternative itinerary will be enabled, duly signposted, through which traffic will travel to the A-67 between the links of Pesca (km 144) and Santa Cruz de Iguña (km 157).
This cut will not affect those users who, starting from the town of Bárcena de Pie de Concha, head north on the N-611. Likewise, it will not affect those users who, starting from the town of Ventorrillo, head south on the N-611.
Technical characteristics of the simulation
The objective of the simulation is to evaluate the coordination of all those involved (emergency services, tunnel managers, civil protection, etc.) In a case of real accident in which it must be assisted and provide health care, as well as evacuate the users of the tunnel.
During the preparation and realization of the simulation, the circulation in the Bárcena tunnel of Pie de Concha will be interrupted to guarantee the safety of users and emergency services, thus simulating also the real conditions of intervention in case of a real accident.
For its realization, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Civil Protection of the Government of Cantabria, 112Semca, Autonomous Firefighters, Civil Guard, Red Cross, 061 SCS, exploitative company UTE Los Corrales and the RST of Tekia Engineers participate.
This simulation is in accordance with the current regulations on minimum safety requirements in State tunnels, and requires that tunnel management personnel and emergency services organize, in cooperation with the safety officer and the competent civil protection agencies, joint periodic drills for tunnel personnel and external emergency services.
