The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility plans to open to traffic tomorrow, April 10, the Santander road of the Hía viaduct of the A-67 motorway, after having completed the repair work of the pretiles of the structure. The commissioning will take place from 10 a.m. in the morning.
The viaduct was seriously damaged after the accident of a special transport vehicle that took place on October 7. In particular, the containment systems and the agglomeration of the firm were affected, which was repaired in the first five days.
The Ministry has invested 1.2 million euros (VAT included) in replacing the concrete pretile affected by the accident with a new metal, among other actions. The execution of the works has included the use of hydrodemolition techniques with robots and the installation of metallic carts to collect debris.
Characteristics of the developed works
The demolition works of the old pretile began at the beginning of January after making the necessary total cut of the road so that all the auxiliary means could work.
Once the pretile was removed, the agglomerate was chopped and the concrete was removed, safeguarding the wall at the edges of the structure board by means of hydrodemolition techniques with robots.
Previously, the fall of the detritus material under the viaduct had been guaranteed by the installation of several metal collection carts, ensuring that no material would fall into the channel through its protection.
In a second phase, the formwork, reinforcement and concretization of the resistant edge hooks on which the new pretile was to be installed were carried out. For this work, other new metal carts were built that allowed the work to be carried out safely for the workers.
Finally, the new galvanized and thermo-plated metal pretile of 1.60 m of height was assembled, with posts at 2.5 m of separation.
