The Government delegate in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, presented on Wednesday in the region of Liébana the VIDOC, the new mobile vehicle of the National Police intended for the express issuance of ID and passports in rural areas. The event was accompanied by the Cantabrian Chief of Police, Carmen Martínez, and the mayors of Potes, Javier Gómez; Vega de Liébana, Gregorio Alonso; Camaleño, Óscar Casares, and Cabezón de Liébana, Jesús Fuentes Briz.
The VIDOC – Integral Documentation Vehicle – has been installed this Wednesday in the municipality of Potes, where it is planned to go twice a month to bring documentation services closer to the neighbors of the Lebanese region. The mobile unit will be located in the municipal building 'La Sindical', on La Independencia Street.
"It is a question of offering the Cantabrian citizens the possibility of carrying out their ID and passport in their own localities, especially in municipalities far from the capitals and of small and medium size, through a vehicle of the National Police specially authorized for this processing, which will travel through different towns and regions," explained Gómez de Diego.
Tomorrow, Thursday 10, the service will travel to the municipality of Villacarriedo, and on Friday 11 it will stop in Reinosa, continuing its itinerary through different points of the region.
In addition, the Government delegate has reported that a PAD (Point of Documentary Activity) has also been installed in Potes, which allows the renewal of electronic certificates with which various administrative procedures can then be carried out through the Internet. This PAD will be permanently located on the 2nd floor of the City of Potes, in San Roque Street, No. 7.
"This initiative of the Ministry of the Interior allows the General Administration of the State to be closer to the citizens, by offering a fundamental service such as obtaining or renewing the ID and the passport directly in their municipalities, as well as renewing the digital keys. With the VIDOC, the National Police moves to the regions and localities where there are no fixed dispatch offices, thus facilitating access to these documents in an agile, convenient way and without the need to move to the large urban centers," said the delegate.
VIDOC and digital ID
The VIDOC service began operating in Cantabria last March and has since paid attention in the towns of Reinosa, Laredo, San Vicente de la Barquera, in the penitentiary center of El Dueso, and now in Potes, with the aim of facilitating access to official documentation in the areas furthest from the permanent offices of the National Police.
The VIDOC is a police van that allows both the issuance of the ID card and the Passport, as well as the updating of the ID keys, “all in less than ten minutes and in a single procedure,” said Gómez de Diego. Everything is done in the same way as it would be done in the current fixed dispatch offices.
The vehicle, which will be located in the public place that each city council determines, has access adapted for people with any type of disability; it has a device with which to update the digital certificates of the documents and, allows both cash and credit card payment, thus facilitating and expediting the procedures to those who demand it.
This ID roaming device joins the new mobile phone digital ID project recently approved by the Council of Ministers. In this sense, in the VIDOC it will be possible to generate a QR code signed and sealed by the National Police to be able to accredit the identity on the mobile device, as well as update certificates.
