The residents of Reinosa and the Comarca of Campoo will be able to obtain their ID in just ten minutes and without having to travel to a police station thanks to the new Integral Documentation Vehicle (VIDOC), presented today in the town by the delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, and the Superior Chief of the National Police, Carmen Martínez.
During the event, in which the mayor of Reinosa, José Luis López, also participated, the delegate stressed that "this service represents an advance in the attention to the citizens, allowing the neighbors of municipalities farther away from the large urban centers to carry out their procedures without the need for long commutes." The delegate stressed that the initiative responds to the commitment of the Government of Spain to accessibility and territorial equality.
The VIDOC introduces significant improvements in document management, eliminating previous displacements and allowing the issuance of ID cards quickly, in just ten minutes. In addition, for the first time, these mobile units will be able to issue passports, a service that until now was only provided in police stations.
Reinosa will be one of the municipalities in which VIDOC will serve on a regular basis. The next visits are scheduled for March 3 and 7. Those who are interested in making use of their services can book an appointment at the Casona.
Document Update Point
Together with the implementation of the VIDOC, the authorities have presented the Document Update Point (PAD) that has been permanently installed in the Polyvalent Room of La Casona, an electronic device that allows citizens to renew electronic ID certificates and update their access keys autonomously. This service has become operational, in addition to Reinosa, in three other municipalities: Cabezón de la Sal, Potes and Santoña.
The deployment of VIDOCs is part of the Digital Identity Plan (PID), framed in the Digitalization Plan of Public Administrations 2021-2025, which seeks to improve the efficiency of public services. These units have been funded with European Next Generation EU Funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
