The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, has confirmed that the new Royal Decree-Law approved today by the Council of Ministers includes, among other measures, the recovery of the gratuitousness of the Commuter trains in Cantabria during the year 2025. This decision comes after the agreement reached between the Government of Spain and the parliamentary groups, which allows the social measures initially blocked in Congress to move forward.
In addition to the free use of local trains, the new decree includes other important social measures for thousands of Cantabrians and Cantabrians, such as the revaluation of pensions by 2.8% on average (with increases of up to 9.1% for widows’ pensions with family burdens), public road transport bonuses and Avant rail services, as well as the social bonus for vulnerable people or people at risk of social exclusion, among others.
It also recovers the aid to municipalities, homes and companies affected by the DANA of Valencia and includes as a novelty the creation of a public system of guarantees and guarantees for owners and tenants.
"These are measures that improve people's quality of life and that are necessary and good for Spain to continue leading economic growth and job creation in Europe," said Gómez de Diego.
The delegate also wanted to send a strong message regarding the initial blocking of these measures: "It is clear that the political project of the PP-Vox denial coalition is to boycott any social advance that benefits the majority. Fortunately, the Spanish Government has worked tirelessly to reverse this situation and ensure that the Cantabrians do not run out of these essential resources."
Finally, Gómez de Diego highlighted the efforts of the central executive in developing policies that boost the economy and employment, defend the middle and working classes and protect the most vulnerable groups. "It is the government of the people and fulfills its commitments to Cantabria," he concluded.
