Until 6 p.m., a total of 210,976 Cantabrians and Cantabrians have exercised their right to vote in the elections to the European Parliament, which represents 44.80% of the electoral census. In comparison with the 2019 elections, participation at this same time has decreased, since on that occasion 55.07% of the census had voted, that is, 256,523 voters.
The election day began with the opening of the polling stations and the constitution of the 739 polling stations distributed throughout the region, with no significant incidents reported. The day is proceeding with total normality, except for an incident recorded in the electoral college of Beranga, where the votes were temporarily suspended between 17:25 and 17:39 hours due to the lack of ballot papers of a political formation. As a result, this electoral college will remain open until 20:14 hours to make up for lost time.
The electoral census in Cantabria amounts to 514,107 voters, of which 467,995 are residents in the region, while 43,229 are Cantabrian residents abroad. In addition, 2,883 foreigners residing in Cantabria have the right to vote in these elections.
