The Superior Headquarters of the National Police in Cantabria has incorporated a virtual shooting gallery for the training of its agents within the strategic lines of the National Police to contribute to the digital transformation of the Public Administration, supported by the funds of the European Union NextGeneration EU. The virtual shooting systems allow to recreate real situations, design various types of practices adapted to the specific needs of the different units and obtain data for the monitoring and evaluation of the exercises.
The visit of the Government Delegate, D. Mrs. Eugenia Gómez de Diego to the virtual shooting gallery in the facilities of the Superior Police Headquarters located in the Avda. of Sport, has started at 10:00 am this morning, being accompanied in the same by the Senior Chief of Police, D. Ms. Carmen Martínez Ruiz and other police officers.
The virtual shooting system, which can be used with real fire or with a laser system, is integrated into the existing shooting gallery. It is composed of a control console, sensors for shot detection, wireless equipment, audio, video projector and screen, as well as laser systems for police equipped weapons, replicas of the HK USP Compact regulatory gun and laser system for night shooting.
With the ability to recreate real situations
These new systems have the capability to detect up to 100 shots per second—with an accuracy of less than about ten millimeters for real fire—and support multi-shooter shot sequences simultaneously in both real fire and virtual mode. They also have sound and video effects to alter the conditions of execution of the shooting exercises.
The virtual shooting exercises allow shooting on moving targets and recreating practically real situations with the ability to adapt to the needs of both the personnel and the different police units.
The implementation of this virtual shooting gallery is a step forward in the modernization of the security forces in Cantabria, providing agents with advanced tools for their training and the improvement of their skills. This project, supported by the European Union, reinforces the commitment of the National Police to public safety and efficiency in its work.
