The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) has completed safety improvement works on the link of the Autovía de la Meseta (A-67) in Tano (Torrelavega).
The works, which have had an investment of 384,372 euros, have allowed to improve the functionality of the roundabout, road safety and pedestrian accessibility.
In particular, the design of some branches of the roundabout has been modified to improve the fluidity of traffic, a new access lane to the train station has been built and a pedestrian path has been created that allows pedestrians to move from one side of the roundabout to the other without danger.
The delegate of the Government, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, stressed that this action has allowed to improve road safety in a point that was especially conflictive, due to the high volume of traffic that the roundabout supports, both of vehicles that access or leave the A-67 and of those that go to the train station.
Thus, Gómez de Diego stressed that the works have allowed to improve the safety of pedestrians, the fluidity of traffic and access to the train station and expressed his satisfaction for the completion of them.
“It was an old aspiration of Torrelavega and now it is a new commitment fulfilled by the Government of Spain,” he said.
Along with this, Gómez de Diego highlighted that “in addition to the great works, such as the Torrelavega knot, the Hermida Gorge or the third lane of the A-67, whose work will begin soon, the Government of Spain is also undertaking in Cantabria a wide range of interventions of lower cost but which are equally relevant to improve road safety”.
“The Government of Spain is committed to improving the infrastructure in Cantabria, and this work is another example of this,” he concluded.
