The government delegate in Cantabria, Ainoa Quiñones, stressed that the Civil Guard is “at the forefront of European police” for its ability to “respond to the increasingly constant emergencies that society is experiencing” and to “fight against gender violence, hate crimes, cybercrime, organized crime, drug trafficking or human trafficking”.
This has been pointed out this Thursday by the delegate of the Government in her speech at the event held at the Cantonment of Santander and in which she has praised the “pride” of the Government of Spain and the Spanish for the Civil Guard. “There is no citizen in this country who does not recognize your dedication, your rigor, your vocation, your commitment and your conviction of patriots who reach dimensions that others who wave flags will never reach,” he said.
“There will never be a better flag than to build an indestructible bridge of dialogue, agreement and understanding between different to make a better country that we all feel as our own. You are, you represent, the best Spain,” said the government delegate.
For Quiñones, the Civil Guard “responds effectively to global challenges, works boldly to the enormous complexities that surround us, and combats external threats with the necessary firmness and determination.”
“Your honesty, your tenacity, your dignity and discipline make you selfless public servants in the defence of the general interest of Spain but, above all, in the protection of the interests, concerns and discoveries of the Spanish and the Cantabrians,” he added, emphasizing that it is 179 years of history that support the body and that “they represent and represent well that evolution of our country until today.”
And to all the civil guards of Cantabria and Spain who today celebrate their patron saint, the Virgen del Pilar, Quiñones has assured them that “you are essential in the daily life of every citizen, every neighbor and every town, because you are the guarantee of security, confidence and tranquility that we all need to develop our life projects”.
For this reason, one more year, “today we want to recognize and thank you for all the services you provide to Cantabria and the whole of our country”, a gratitude that extends in this act “to those who collaborate, cooperate and work together with you to guarantee security, compliance with the rule of law and social peace”.
Quiñones, together with the Colonel Chief of the Civil Guard of Cantabria, Antonio Orantos, presided over the event for the festivity of El Pilar in which the traditional military parade with agents of the body has been developed and 21 decorations have been imposed.
Specifically, five Military Merit Medals have been awarded to five officers of the corps and 16 Civil Guard Merit Medals, which have received 12 members of the corps and four civilians: the magistrate judge of the Court of Instruction number 1 of Santander, Jaime Antonio Parra; the prosecutor of the Civil Violence and Disabled Persons Section of the Superior Prosecutor’s Office of Cantabria, Jesús María Cabezón; the general secretary of the Defense Delegation in Cantabria, Lieutenant Colonel Alberto Miguel Martín; and the chief inspector of the National Police of Juan Rodríguez de Cantabria.
The event was attended by the President of the Parliament of Cantabria, María José González Revuelta; the Counselor of Presidency, Justice, Security and Administrative Simplification, Isabel Urrutia; the President of the High Court of Justice of Cantabria, José Luis López del Moral; and the Senior Prosecutor Pilar Jiménez, among other civil and military authorities.
