The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Ainoa Quiñones, has highlighted the “effort” of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) to reinforce the staffing of examiners both in Cantabria and in the rest of Spain, where pensions and sick leave in this professional group affect the waiting time for students to be examined.
Thus, Quiñones has recognized that, in recent years, the group of examiners has been reduced in Cantabria due to retirements but has announced that “soon we will cover the staff at 100%”, reaching the staff of 10 examiners that corresponds to us and in which we currently have eight examiners plus another interim examiner.
The delegate of the Government in Cantabria has transferred this Wednesday to the president of the Cantabrian Association of Driver Schools (ACEC), Alberto Santamaría, and other members of the entity, with whom he has met this Wednesday together with the provincial head of Traffic in the Autonomous Community, José Miguel Tolosa, and the provincial deputy head, Nuria Colsa.
For its part, Tolosa has explained that the shortage of examiners affects not only the Cantabrian Government but several of the country, but has assured the “commitment” of the DGT to increase the capacity to examine and meet the seasonal demand for examinations at certain times, such as the summer months that now begin.
“In the case of Cantabria, an interim examiner has just been incorporated and in the coming weeks the DGT will take out the competition to call new examiner positions, in which there will be two for our Autonomous Community, with which we will reach 100% of the staff we have assigned,” he said.
Thus, both the delegate and the provincial head of Traffic have praised that “these new additions represent the continuation of the DGT’s determined commitment to the improvement of the public service provided to citizens, initiated at the beginning of 2021”.
