The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, visited this Monday, in Cantabria, the automotive company SEG Automotive, specialized in the technology of vehicle starter motors, which has electric and sustainable mobility projects financed with European funds through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The head of the Executive, accompanied in his visit by the delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Ainoa Quiñones, has pointed out the opportunity that PERTE VEC and the MOVES Singulares II program represent for the automotive sector and the economic transformation of our country.
The factory located in Treto (Cantabria) has been a pioneer for more than 50 years leading the technology of starter motors. Although traditionally dedicated to the production of alternators, it has adapted to new trends aimed at sustainable mobility and electric mobility.
SEG Automotive Spain, belonging to the Chinese companies ZMJ consortium and the CRCI fund, with a presence in 16 countries and 7 plants in Europe, one of them in Spain, participates in five projects of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
Two of them in the framework of the PERTE VEC, the Strategic Project of Electric and Connected Vehicles that seeks to respond to the new sustainable mobility, with the creation of the ecosystem necessary for the development and manufacture of electric and connected vehicles by boosting the automotive industry.
The other three electric mobility projects have an endowment of more than 10.5 million euros of total subsidy of the program MOVES Singulares II launched by the Government, which invests in technological development projects and innovative experiences in electric mobility, to promote the technological leap towards the electric and connected vehicle, promoting the development of projects by Spanish companies.
