A total of 57 professionals from the private security sector in Cantabria have been recognized this Thursday for their trajectory, their professional work, their collaboration with the State Security Forces and Bodies and for outstanding interventions during the event for the 21st Anniversary of Private Security Day.
The President of Cantabria, Miguel Ángel Revilla, has presided over the event in which the President of the Parliament, Joaquín Gómez, participated; the Delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Ainoa Quiñones; the Mayor of Santander, Gema Igualó; the President of the High Court of Justice of Cantabria, José Luis López del Moral; the Superior Prosecutor, Pilar Jiménez; the Superior Chief of Police, Carmen Martínez; the Head of the Central Private Security Unit of the National Police, José Anguas Antonio
In the event, the work carried out by the 23 private security companies that provide their service in Cantabria has been valued, which collaborate daily with the State Security Forces and Local Police and who have also been thanked for the great work they carried out during the pandemic, since this event was not held since 2019.
The president of Cantabria, Miguel Ángel Revilla, has valued the “high level” of security of the Autonomous Community, which is “among the best in Spain”, and has been proud of the work and collaboration between the State Security Forces, local police and private security companies, which are the “essential complement to the public”.
He stressed that “assembly” between the public and the private results in greater security for citizens and has a direct impact on the quality of life. In this regard, he recalled that Cantabria is currently the sixth community in Spain in quality of life, according to a recent study by the Cantabrian Institute of Statistics (ICANE).
Revilla has also congratulated all the workers in this sector in the region and, in particular, the 57 who today have been decorated with honorable mentions. “You’re very good,” he told them.
For her part, the government delegate in Cantabria has highlighted that “security is one of the values most appreciated by citizens” and also “one of the best indicators of quality of life”. “Without security there is no freedom, there is no stability, there is no economic growth, and there is no citizen welfare,” he said.
For Quiñones, the work carried out by private security companies “is fundamental” and their work is “the best complement to the actions of the State Security Forces and Local Police Forces”.
And, he said, citizens “give priority to collective security in their environment, in their daily lives, in the streets of their neighborhood, and in all the places they go to, but increasingly the importance of feeling safe in their private environment as in their homes or in their jobs is valued”.
During the event, on the proposal of the Private Security Commission of Cantabria, four plaques have been delivered in recognition of the collaboration with the sector to the delegate of the Government, the Superior Chief of Police, the Colonel Chief of the Civil Guard and Pedro Suárez, retired agent of the National Police and who was part of the Private Security Unit of the body in Cantabria.
