The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Ainoa Quiñones, has met this Thursday with the new director of the Seve Ballestries-Santander Airport, Miguel Ángel Salgado, who will take over from the current manager of the Cantabrian airport, Feliz Rico, from May 1.
Quiñones has welcomed Salgado to whom he has offered all the collaboration of the Government Delegation in Cantabria to continue promoting the Seve Ballesteros Airport and has assured him that “in Cantabria he will find the collaboration of all the institutions” so that the management of this important infrastructure “is a success”.
The delegate has transferred it to the meeting she held today with Salgado, the still director of the airport, Hola Rico, and the director of Group 2 of Aena, Julián Camara.
At the meeting, Quiñones also wished ⦅⦆ Rico “a happy and deserved retirement” after 13 years managing the Seve Ballestries-Santander Airport with “great success and with the support of all the administrations involved”.
“You know that everyone who works with you on a day-to-day basis will miss you very much because you have been a great director of our airport but I can also assure you that everyone will receive Miguel Ángel with open arms and help him to follow the trail of his successful management,” he said.
In this regard, the delegate recalled that 2022 was closed with a total of 1,102,439 passengers, a figure that represented a recovery of 93.8% of the annual total of 2019, so she has predicted that in this 2023 “we will return to a record year”. At this point, he has indicated that in this summer season 29 destinations will be offered on 32 routes.
Miguel Ángel Salgado was appointed last March as successor in front of the Cantabrian airport of ⦅⦆ -Rico, which leaves its position after taking up retirement.
Miguel Ángel Salgado, an aeronautical engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, is currently responsible for the Engineering and Maintenance Department of the Girona Costa Brava Airport since 2013.
Salgado joined Aena in 2007 in the engineering and maintenance area of the Girona airport. Since then, he has held positions of responsibility in the Maintenance Department between 2012 and 2013 and in the Electricity and Marking Section between 2007 and 2012.
During this stage it has contributed to the growth and development of the infrastructures of the Girona Airport - Costa Brava. He has actively collaborated in the achievement of the Airport Certification in 2017 and has coordinated the planning and execution of the actions necessary to adapt the infrastructure to regulatory compliance.
For its part, Hola Rico, current director of the Cantabrian facility, is retiring after 13 years at the service of the Seve Ballestries-Santander Airport.
Rico landed in Cantabria after managing the airports of A Coruña and Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén and now says goodbye to the Cantabrian infrastructure in a recovery phase of the airport.
During his leadership he has promoted airport certification and the highest quality standards, in addition to managing the stoppage of airport traffic during the COVID-19 health crisis.
In this sense, the International Airport Council (ACI) awarded for two consecutive years the recognition of ‘Best Hygiene Measures by Region: Europe’.
In addition, it has received institutional recognitions, such as the Cross of Distinguished Services granted by the Local Police of Camargo (2018) or the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Civil Guard with white badge (2021).
