The Government Delegation in Cantabria has joined the Open Administration Week on Tuesday, an initiative promoted worldwide by the Alliance for Open Government and organized in Spain by the General Subdirectorate of Open Government of the Ministry of Finance and Public Function, and has done so with an open day.
The Government’s objective is for citizens to be aware of the functioning of their public institutions, in addition to promoting the values of transparency and accountability, citizen participation, collaboration and integrity in the public service.
The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Ainoa Quiñones, stressed the importance of “opening the doors of the institutions to the citizens so that they know first-hand the work that is done in them and the great work that the officials carry out”.
In fact, to get to know this work closely, the Secretary General of the Government Delegation, Francisco García Villa, has informed the assistants of all the services provided by the Government Delegation and the rights of access to information and participation in public affairs, deepening the Transparency Law.
It has also addressed the implementation of the Plan ‘The Administration near you’ to bring these services closer to the municipalities of between 500 and 8,000 inhabitants, which in the case of Cantabria are 68 of the 102 municipalities.
Also, within the framework of this day, the head of the Unit against Gender Violence of the Delegation, Diana Mirones, gave a talk on the coordination between public administrations in cases of gender violence.
Open Gov Week is a global initiative promoted by the Open Gov Week, which takes place in 2023 from March 20 to 24, and is based on the principles of Open Government: transparency, accountability, citizen participation, public integrity and collaboration.
In Spain, Open Administration Week is coordinated and promoted by the General Directorate of Public Governance, with the collaboration of the Open Government Forum.
