The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Ainoa Quiñones, has valued the contribution of the State to “make a reality” the new Museum of Prehistory and Archaeology of Cantabria (MUPAC) on the site of the former Provincial Council in Puertochico.
Quiñones praised the “commitment” demonstrated by the Government of Spain with this project for which it has contributed 22 million euros through transfers to the Government of Cantabria, thus supporting a “strategic” initiative of the Autonomous Community.
The government delegate pointed this out this Friday during her speech in the act of laying the first stone of the construction of the new permanent headquarters of the MUPAC on the site of the former Provincial Council in Puertochico.
At the event, in which he accompanied the regional president, Miguel Ángel Revilla, and the vice-president and advisor of Universities, Equality, Culture and Sport, Pablo Zuloaga, Quiñones pointed out that “it is a long-awaited day for Santander and Cantabria” and also for culture.
“This project is going to place Cantabria in its rightful place for the value of our prehistoric heritage and, therefore, today is also a day of thanks to those who have put all their efforts to make it a reality,” he said.
Thus, he insisted that with the placement of this first stone for the construction of the new MUPAC “a long-awaited objective is achieved thanks to the commitment of the Government of Cantabria, the dedication of the vice-president, Pablo Zuloaga, and the permanent work throughout the legislature of the team of the Ministry of Culture”.
And also, he added, “thanks to the commitment of the Government of Spain, to the will of the Government of Pedro Sánchez, who opted from the first moment to help promote this project and make it a reality”. “A commitment that shows that this government of Pedro Sánchez knows perfectly the needs and projects that Cantabria requires,” he said.
At this point, he indicated that the commitment of the Government of Spain with this strategic project of Cantabria has materialized in the contribution of 22 million euros.
And that “commitment so that the projects of Cantabria advance, take shape and become a reality is also in the logistical center of La Pasiega, the advance for the arrival of the High Speed to Reinosa, the link Sierrapando-Barreda the investments for the transformation of the Port of Santander or the Gorge of La Hermida, said Quiñones, remembering that it has also been seen in the final payment of debt of the works of the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital or the arrival of the ENAIRE Collection to the Naves de Gamazo.
“We have a government of Spain that knows, complies and is committed to the present and future of Cantabria”, he concluded
