The information bus of the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) continues in the north of Spain its route through the national territory. Tomorrow Saturday, February 25th, and Monday 27th will be in Logroño; Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd of March, in Santander; and Saturday 4th and Monday 6th, in Gijón, Asturias. Citizens who are interested both in knowing the benefit and the status of their application or want to know if they are entitled to it and, if applicable, request it, can go without the need for an appointment.
In Logroño, the bus will assist citizens in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Avenida de la Paz, 11; in Santander, in the Parking of the El Sardinero Football Field; and in Gijón, Asturias, in the Parking of the El Molinón Stadium. The hours of care are from 9 to 14 hours and from 15 to 18 hours.
The bus, which was launched in October 2022 with the aim of getting closer to the possible beneficiaries of the Minimum Vital Income who have not applied for the benefit and informing them about it, was this week in Zaragoza, on February 22 and 23. Since the beginning of this ‘mobile office’ service and until yesterday, a total of 3,244 people have been served.
The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration will add to the bus an information tent that begins its tour next week in the Canary Islands. Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th of February will be in Las Palmas and Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd of March, in Tenerife. The tent, equipped with two information spaces at the same time as the bus, will soon move to Ceuta, Melilla and the Balearic Islands.
Regarding the profile of the people served by the bus, it is noted that 67% are women, and 54% had applied for the benefit previously. Among those who had already requested the IMV, 49% were in the process and, among those who had not requested it, 36% was due to ignorance and 32% explained that it was because they thought they did not meet the requirements.
On the motivation of the people who have approached the bus, 71% did so to request information, 24% to resolve doubts and 3% to be accompanied in the processing.
More than half a million households with IMV
The Minimum Vital Income (IMV) has reached 560,809 households in which 1,579,949 people live, according to statistics published by the National Institute of Social Security until the end of January. This benefit, which is paid for by Social Security, is having a special impact on the reduction of child poverty since 42.8 per cent of the total beneficiaries are minors (676,288).
