The Higher Police Headquarters of Cantabria, within the activities of the ‘Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers’ regulated by the Secretary of State for Security and coordinated by the Government Delegation, has organized for next week four didactic concerts by the Symphonic Band of the National Police.
This initiative, which is the first time it has been promoted in Cantabria, is aimed at the youngest students of educational centers in Santander and Torrelavega, aged between 6 and 9 years of age, approximately.
A total of 1,400 students will attend the four concerts that will take place next Monday and Tuesday, February 27 and 28, in the morning, at the Municipal Theater Concha Espina of Torrelavega, and on Wednesday and Thursday, March 1 and 2, at the Palace of Festivals in Santander. 350 students will attend each concert.
This activity has been organized by the Higher Police Headquarters of Cantabria in coordination with the Government Delegation in Cantabria and in collaboration with the Government of Cantabria, which through the Vice-Presidency and Ministry of Universities, Equality, Culture and Sport has ceded the use of the Palace of Festivals, and with the City Council of Torrelavega, which also ceases the use of the Concha Espina Theater.
The Superior Chief of Police of Cantabria, Carmen Martínez, has thanked the collaboration of the institutions to promote these concerts of the Symphonic Band of the National Police that “will emphasize for the first time in the Autonomous Community in an initiative of this nature” and that has considered that “they are another incentive to bring our young people closer to the values and activity of the National Police Force”.
For her part, the delegate of the Government, Ainoa Quiñones, has highlighted the importance of these initiatives that, framed in the ‘Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers’ that we coordinate from the Delegation, “seek to bring to children values such as companionship or respect” that are “essence” of the National Police.
For his part, the Vice-President of Cantabria, Pablo Zuloaga, has highlighted the work of service to citizens carried out by the National Police in Cantabria and has highlighted the opportunity represented by the presence of his Symphony Band in the Palace of Festivals to transmit to young people the values of culture as a space for dialogue, coexistence and unity of society.
And the mayor of Torrelavega, Javier López Estrada, has thanked the Superior Police Headquarters of Cantabria for having chosen Torrelavega and, specifically, the Municipal Theater Concha Espina, as one of the venues of these concerts, and has been confident that it will be the first of many collaborations to bring the National Police and, in this case, the Symphonic Band of the National Police, closer to the schoolchildren of Torrelavega.
Concert goals
With this didactic concert, the intention is to interact and promote the values of music between boys and girls (they will receive clarifications on each of the works interpreted by the agents), while increasing the closeness between the police and the children's audience to which it is destined.
In addition to the children learning to differentiate various melodies and instruments, it is sought that they understand the values on which the Police is based (companionship, respect, understanding) and their task of helping, so that it is an experience that lasts in their memory.
Concert content
This didactic concert offers musical interpretations and exhibition of instruments, making participations to schoolchildren, as well as an appreciation of the functions and qualities of the National Police.
Through the musical show, the story is told of a policeman, called Pedro, who has the task of providing security during the concert, solving the problems that occur during the event in a pleasant and fun way, interacting continuously with the children and making them feel and be part of the story.
The event takes place with great dynamism, linking turns in which explanations, instrumental music, singing, theater, image and video alternate, which guarantees the attention of children at all times.
National Police Symphony Band
The Symphonic Band of the National Police, directed by Vicente Fernández García, is dedicated mainly to act in police acts, to represent in acts the relevance of the National Police Force, to interpret the respective National Anthems, to perform symphonic concerts promoted by public institutions, as well as to give symphonic didactic concerts to the students of the Training School of Ávila and students of educational centers, children's hospitals, major schools and universities that request it.
