The Government delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, today presided over the commemorative event of the Private Security Day in which the honorable mentions of the National Police and the Civil Guard were given to 79 private security professionals from the province of Las Palmas who have distinguished themselves for their merits and their collaboration with the State Security Forces and Bodies.
The event, which took place in the Throne Room of the headquarters of the Government Delegation in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, was attended by the Subdelegate of the Government in Las Palmas, Teresa Mayans, the Superior Chief of Police of the Canary Islands, Jesús María Gómez, and the Chief General of the Civil Guard in the Canary Islands, Juan Hernández, as well as representatives of the Professional Association of Private Security Services Companies (APROSER) and the Canary Security and Surveillance Association (APEMES), along with members of the sector.
“It is fair to recognize the work of thousands of men and women who, through private security, actively and decisively contribute to ensuring the protection of people, goods and infrastructure throughout the national territory. A work that complements and reinforces the action of the State Security Forces and Bodies, under the principle of loyal and effective collaboration,” said the government delegate during the presentation of these awards that distinguish professionals who stand out for their dedication and dedication in the exercise of their activity.
After recalling the key work of this sector in some of the most recent events in our country, such as the DANA that hit the Valencian Community or the great blackout on the Peninsula, Pestana also reiterated during her speech the “firm commitment from the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands to dignified, regulated and collaborative private security”. “We will contribute, in coordination with the State Security Forces and Bodies, to ensure compliance with regulations, to promote specialized training, and to promote fair and safe working environments,” he said.
The delivery of these recognitions is included in article 36 of the Order INT/318/2011, of 1 February, on private security personnel of the Ministry of the Interior, which states that they will be granted taking into account the special danger, hardship, professional initiative or social significance of the work carried out by private security personnel.
The Ministerial Order distinguishes two categories: category A, when the private security officer is injured or his physical integrity is at serious risk, or has avoided the commission of crimes with the detention of those involved in a risk intervention, or has provided relevant information to the Security Forces and Bodies, and category B, in other cases of commission of crimes, humanitarian actions in case of accidents, accidents or honorary catastrophes, or any other action that is worthy of this mention.
Act of delivery in Santa Cruz de Tenerife
The Government delegate, accompanied by the subdelegate in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Javier Plata, will preside over the act of handing over the honorary mentions of the National Police and the Civil Guard to the private security personnel of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife tomorrow, Wednesday, June 11, at the headquarters of the Government Subdelegation in the capital of Tenerife, where 49 professionals will receive the distinction for their collaboration in collective security.
