The deputy delegate of the Government in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Javier Plata, has presented today in the capital of Tenerife the second edition of the Day for equality and against gender violence.
This day, which in this edition is carried out with the theme “Care for women with disabilities victims of gender violence”, has been held today in the Subdelegation of the Government in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and tomorrow, Thursday, October 26, will take place from 6 p.m. at the Insular Directorate of the General Administration of the State in La Gomera.
The presentation, which was given by the pedagogue Yaiza Afonso, focused on analyzing and highlighting the prevalence of gender violence in women with any type of disability.
Different studies that confirm this trend have been addressed, such as the study “Women, disability and gender violence”, promoted and funded by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, and the study “Diagnosis on women with disabilities and gender violence in the Canary Islands”, by the Canary Islands Institute for Equality. In addition, guidelines have been given and the issues to be taken into account to care for victims of gender-based violence with disabilities have been identified based on the needs they need.
This day, which is organized by the Secretary of State for Equality and Against Gender Violence of the Ministry of Equality and the Unit for Coordination against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands, is part of the awareness-raising activities promoted within the framework of the State Pact against Gender Violence.
