Next Sunday, May 28, the local and regional elections will be held to elect the representatives of the Canary Islands citizenship in Town Councils, Island Councils and in the Autonomous Community, which will have 2,943 tables distributed by 1,058 local elections to be able to exercise their right to vote.
In the Archipelago, 1,402 councillors will be elected corresponding to the 88 Canarian municipalities, 157 councillors for the seven Island Councils and 70 deputies for the Parliament of the Canary Islands.
For the local elections, 69 candidacies are presented to the Island Councils and 550 to the City Councils. As for the autonomous elections, a total of 17 candidates are presented to the autonomous constituency and another 73 to the various island constituencies.
Regarding the electoral census, there are three different cases planned for these local and regional elections in the Canary Islands. The autonomous census, which will be the citizens who will be able to vote for representatives in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, is 1,778,285 people, which means an increase of 57,307 voters compared to the last autonomous elections, held in 2019.
In the votes to the Island Councils, there will be a total of 1,616,173 people called to the ballot box, which means an increase of 42,574 people compared to the local elections of 2019.
Finally, in these elections there will be a total of 1,660,678 people who will be able to vote for their representatives in the municipalities, which means an increase of 41,877 voters compared to 2019.
Among the 88 Canarian municipalities, a total of 2,943 polling stations will have been distributed in 1,058 polling stations, which means an increase of 118 polling stations compared to the last elections, held in 2019. These polling places will be distributed 514 in the province of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and another 544 in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Physical and material media
During this election day a total of 11,772 people will collaborate with the Administration for the development of the electoral process between the 8,829 board members and the 2,943 representatives of the administration, responsible for collecting data for the Administration from the voting premises.
In addition, the staff of the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands, the Government Subdelegations in Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and the Island Directorates in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro will also collaborate this Sunday with the Electoral Board and the Ministry of the Interior for the correct development of the voting day.
In the Canary Islands, a total of 4,767 members of the various Security Forces and Corps will ensure that these elections take place normally. On this occasion there will be 2,177 officers of the National Police, 2,000 officers of the Civil Guard, 523 of the Local Police and 67 of the General Corps of the Canary Police, who will be distributed throughout the territory.
Once again in these local and regional elections there will be tablets that will help the transmission of data from the different electoral venues. In total, 1,162 mobile devices have been distributed for the telematic transmission of the scrutiny.
