The General Directorate of Traffic has developed between 13 and 19 April a new surveillance and speed control campaign, in which agents of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard in Asturias established 111 control points and verified the speed of 43,432 vehicles.
This figure represents an increase of more than 28,000 controlled vehicles compared to the last campaign, carried out in August 2025. Of the total number of vehicles controlled, 1,253 drivers (2.88%) were reported for exceeding speed limits.
By type of road, just over half of the infringements were registered on motorways and motorways, with 640 drivers reported, representing 51% of the total, while the remaining 49% corresponded to conventional roads (613 complaints).
In criminal matters, no driver was brought before a court for exceeding the permitted speed by more than 80 km/h, as stated in article 379.1 of the Criminal Code.
Added to these results are the controls carried out by police and locals in their respective areas of competence, a collaboration that reinforces the message of respect for speed limits on any type of track.
Respecting speed limits is one of the most effective measures to reduce accidents. Despite this, the excess of speed continues to be a widespread behavior among drivers.
