The government delegate, Adriana Lastra, visited this morning the new joint office of the Public Employment Service of the Principality of Asturias (SEPEPA) and the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) in Langreo, which began operating at the beginning of January 2025. The space has been conditioned with an investment of 544,960 euros, financed thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy aimed at the renovation of facilities in employment offices with personnel of the State Public Employment Service.
The delegate expressed her gratitude for this institutional collaboration as it has been key to offering a modern and accessible space to citizens. This office will be a point of reference for people actively seeking employment to receive guidance, training and support, contributing to improving their employability and well-being. “The collaboration between SEPE and SEPEPA in this office is an example of coordination and efficiency, providing the residents of Langreo and the Comarca del Nalón with closer and faster access to resources and employment programs,” said the delegate.
The Government of Spain remains firmly committed to the promotion of employment and the continuous improvement of public employment services. In Asturias, the data reflect a clear recovery in the labour market, with a significant reduction in unemployment in recent months that brings us closer to pre-crisis levels. “We will continue to work with dedication to strengthen these public services, which are fundamental pillars for job creation and the social development of our community. Our goal is for no one to be left behind and for everyone to have the opportunities they deserve," said Lastra.
In addition to this office in Langreo, the grant from the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy has also made it possible to renovate key offices in Asturias. Among them, the Oviedo-La Regenta office, renovated in 2017 and relocated in 2020. The project for the renovation of the Oviedo-General Elorza office (2024) is currently under way, and applications have recently been submitted for the renovation of the Siero-Pola and Siero-Lugones offices (2025). These actions reflect the commitment of the Government of Spain to the modernization of employment offices to improve care for citizens.
