The Government delegate in Asturias, Adriana Lastra, and the Minister of Science, Business, Training and Employment, Borja Sánchez, have co-chaired a meeting with the social agents and the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate to analyze the workplace accident in Asturias.
Both administrations are working on a “robust response” to reduce accidents at work. From the point of view of the competences of the Government of Spain, Lastra has detailed that the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate will “accommodate” its annual planning to the needs of the crash plan in which the Government of the Principality works together with the social agents.
The delegate of the Government has announced that in the coming months three positions of inspector of work and one position of sub-inspector of Occupational Safety and Health in Asturias will be convened. “Never before have so many places been called,” said Lastra, who believes that this will strengthen a service that is already well provided. After the incorporation of the new people, there will be 22 labour inspectors and nine sub-inspectors of Occupational Safety and Health. The current staff of the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate is 42 people.
In addition to the Government Delegation, the Ministry of Science and Labour Inspection and Social Security, representatives of FADE, CCOO, UGT, Sepepa and the Institute of Occupational Risk Prevention also attended the meeting.
