The delegate of the Government in Asturias, Delia Losa, and the mayor of Nava, Juan Cañal, have co-chaired the Local Security Board convened to coordinate the device for the Cider Festival that is held between July 7 and 9.
The meeting showed the excellent collaboration and coordination between the Civil Guard, the Local Police and the organization of the party. As in previous years, security will be increased on the days of the festival.
The government delegate stressed that Nava “is a safe council”, since the crime rate is among the lowest in Asturias, with 8.79 criminal offenses per thousand inhabitants between June 2022 and May 2023. That’s eight points less than in the previous twelve months. The latest statistics from the Ministry of the Interior reveal that Asturias remains the second safest autonomous community in the country, with 32 crimes per thousand inhabitants, 17 points less than the national average.
Losa recalled that Nava is one of the ten municipalities in Asturias that have signed an agreement with the Ministry of the Interior to be part of the VioGén system for monitoring victims of gender violence. Today, in Nava there are eight women with protection: four with a low level of risk and four with negligible risk. In the Cider Festival, two Violeta Points will be located to inform about how to act in the face of possible machista aggressions.
In addition to the Government delegate and the mayor, the Local Security Board was attended by representatives of the Civil Guard with the Colonel Chief of the Command/Area of Asturias at the head, the Chief of the Local Police of Nava, councillors of the City of Nava, the General Secretary of the Government Delegation and heads of Transinsa and the private security company contracted for the Cider Festival.
