The Director of the Area of the High Inspection of Education of the Government Delegation in Asturias, José Antonio Fernández Espina, has chaired the meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments. Representatives of the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Principality, the National Police and the Civil Guard have attended.
This plan of the Ministries of Interior and Education was created by the central government in 2007 and is coordinated by the Government Delegations. This initiative aims to improve the coexistence and safety of schoolchildren and also to increase confidence in the State Security Forces and Corps. The Master Plan is embodied in lectures given by the Civil Guard and the National Police in schools, meetings with security experts and the improvement of surveillance in the school environment. Schools that wish to do so are free to sign up to the plan.
In the school year just completed, 267 schools requested to be part of the Master Plan, they are 74% of the total in Asturias, figures similar to those of the last year. The most demanded activities were those related to internet risks. 39 National Police and Civil Guard officers gave a total of 1,744 talks:
| CONTENTS TALKS | NUMBER OF TALKS | % |
| Internet risks | 759 | 44 |
| Bullying in schools | 438 | 25 |

| Drugs and alcohol | 194 | 11 |

In addition, the State Security Forces and Corps participated in 66 meetings with the educational community to discuss the security issues of greatest concern and 95 schools requested permanent access to a police expert and improved monitoring of the school environment.
For the first time in this school year, the High Inspection Area of Education of the Government Delegation in Asturias has prepared a survey on the impact of the Master Plan. The result has revealed the high satisfaction of the educational centers, highlighting, above all, the contents of the sessions, the relevance of the topics discussed and the interest aroused among the students. The degree of satisfaction among the centers has been very high and everyone has shown their intention to request their participation in the plan again next year.
In the course of the meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Master Plan, the instruction of the Secretary of State for Security published last week has been detailed, which repeals the one in force since 2013 and which, above all, extends the contents of the plan, adapting it to the safety needs of schoolchildren. Thus, there will be new topics: abuse in the family environment, trafficking and exploitation of human beings, intellectual property rights, violence against the educational community, protection of personal data, road safety and environmental protection.
The meeting was attended by, in addition to the Director of the High Inspection of Education Area of the Government Delegation in Asturias, the Director General of Planning, Evaluation and Educational Equity of the Government of the Principality, David Artime; the Delegate of Citizen Participation of the National Police in Gijón, Inspector Luis Claudio Alperi; the Delegate of Citizen Participation of the National Police of Oviedo, Inspector Iris Rodríguez; and the Delegates of Citizen Participation of the Civil Guard, Juan José Camporro and Belectente, García.
