The Government delegate in Asturias, Delia Losa, has imposed the Order of Civil Merit Tie on the flag of the Infantry Regiment ‘Prince nº3’. It has done so in the commemorative act of the LVII anniversary of the Brigade ‘Galicia VII’ of which the Regiment is part that has its base in the Cabo Noval Quartering, in Siero.
The decoration was requested by the delegate of the Government and has been awarded by the King of Spain as Grand Master of the Order of Civil Merit. In the presentation of merits, it was asked to recognize “the collaboration and institutional loyalty of the Regiment with all public administrations” in general and more specifically the work of the military in ‘Operation Balmis’ and ‘Mission Baluarte’, deployed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During that period, and in close collaboration with the Government Delegation in Asturias and the Health Department of the Government of the Principality, the Regiment put into operation the service of military tracers in Asturias for the monitoring, location and notification of persons carrying the coronavirus; it installed two field hospitals in Oviedo and Gijón; and its health personnel provided support in the vaccination centers.
The Order of Civil Merit was instituted in 1926 to reward civil merits acquired by personnel dependent on one of the Public Administrations or by persons outside the Administration who provide or have provided relevant services to the State.
